RTA Board

The Regional Transportation Authority, a state-established political subdivision, is governed by an independent governing body. The RTA Board members include chief elected officials from local, county, state and tribal governments who work collaboratively to oversee the implementation of projects, programs and transit services identified in the voter-approved 2006 RTA plan and the new $2.67 billion RTA plan (RTA Next), which voter approved in March 2026.

The board, which meets five times a year, also oversees the fiscal management of the RTA plan and grants approval of project schedules and budgets.

Each RTA Board member has one vote to ensure policy decisions are made with a regional commitment to drive economic growth across the region. The nine-member RTA Board includes representatives from eight jurisdictions and the Arizona State Transportation Board. The jurisdictions include: Pima CountySouth TucsonTucsonMaranaOro ValleySahuarita, the Pascua Yaqui Tribe and Tohono O’odham Nation.
